Canon EOS-1D X Mark III Autofocus

Canon EOS-1D X Mark III Autofocus

♪♪♪ Rudy Winston from Canon here,
with a look at the EOS-1D X Mark III’s autofocus during viewfinder shooting. This camera has a 191-point AF system
covering about the same area as the previous 61-point AF array.
Up to 155 of these are cross-type points depending
on the lens being used. Each AF point can be individually
selected, and it’s easy to change AF areas to expand the
size of your active AF area. AF is possible with lenses f/8
and faster. The AF sensor is a totally new concept using areas
of square pixels instead of line pairs. Greater AF
precision, and enhanced focus with finely detailed and diagonal
subjects are a direct benefit. Continuous AI Servo AF works
at up to 16 frames per second when shooting through the
viewfinder. It’s even faster than its predecessor, the EOS-1D
X Mark II, and more adept at challenging subjects; including
shooting through heat haze in bright sunlight. AI Servo AF can
be tailored for different types of subject movement with four
distinct Cases in the AF menu. When using any of the Zone AF
areas, or all 191 AF points, the EOS-1D X Mark III has
greatly expanded AF tracking capabilities for following subjects
moving around the frame. Through the viewfinder,
it offers Face Detection and a new, powerful Head Detection
technology, as well as ability to follow non-human subjects
throughout the AF array. In fact, there’s a separate,
dedicated DIGIC 8 processor, strictly for metering and AF
control during viewfinder shooting. Powerful AF is just one
EOS-1D X Mark III strong point. For Canon USA, I’m Rudy Winston. ♪♪♪

  1. Hi canon. I have been hearing confusing reports about AF availability for video. Is Dual Pixar AF available in 24/25/30 Raw and just not available in full frame 50p/60p or is it not available at all in Raw?

  2. You guys should update the canon 1Dx Mark ii and add the Clog I’m a loyal customer and I spent 6k on that camera and it seem very unfair not having at least Clog where the 5d Mark Iv is a lower end camera and have the C-log 🤦🏽‍♂️
